Friday 30 November 2018 is Carers Rights Day – a national campaign that brings organisations together to help carers in their local community know their rights and find out how to get the support they are entitled to. The theme this year is Caring for Your Future.
Caring can be a hugely rewarding experience but sometimes carers find it challenging to take care of their own wellbeing whilst caring for others. There are an estimated 66,000 unpaid carers in East Sussex, many of whom are not aware of their rights, the support they are entitled to, or where to access these services.
East Sussex charity, Care for the Carers have been supporting and representing unpaid carers in East Sussex since 1989. Their team of staff and volunteers can provide free practical and emotional advice – face to face, by telephone, or online. They can put you in touch with other carers and help you navigate the range of services available locally.
Take some time this Carers Rights Day to read up on your rights and make sure your physical and mental wellbeing needs are looked after. Click here for top 10 tips and find out what you can do to care for your future.
